Can I make a pot in the first lesson?

Yes. With the help of plaster moulds, the slab roller and a coil extruder, making pots is straightforward and fun. This will give your confidence a huge boost before you try your hand on the wheel.

Does it matter that I'm a beginner?

No. The small class sizes mean that each student can work at their own level. Mudlarks has an extensive collection of books and magazines to inspire the more advanced students with new and exciting ideas while the beginners are inspired by what they see happening around them.

Do I have to try the wheel if I want to do pottery?

No, of course not. These classes are about fun as well as creativity. If you feel daunted by the potter's wheel, stick to handbuilding. The creative potential in handbuilding is limited only by your imagination and the size of the kiln.
